In a flood help update, the embassy said it repatriated the dead body of Arnolfo Fernandez last Sunday. It sated that, "On [November 6], the Embassy repatriated the remains of the Filipino victim of electrocution due to the floods. The remains were boarded on [flight] TG 620 which departed Bangkok 7:45 a.m. and arrived in Manila 11:55 a.m. last Sunday." Earlier rumors quoted the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) saying Fernandez is from Mindoro Oriental.
Reports say that he was in Thonburi-one of the flooded areas when he was unfortunately electrocuted last October 31.
Relief operations underway
212 Filipino migrants are now being helped by the embassy due to cry for assistance. The embassy said that on Monday they have received donations of 72 packs of 12 water bottles each. Included are 4 bags of used clothing for adults. The embassy also added that they have delivered some goods to Pak Kred and Pridi Banomyong areas for 12 Filipinos who asked assistance. 22 Filipinos were also helped in Lamlukka, Pathumthani. Last Tuesday, the embassy also received another batch of donations from 4 individuals and organizations.
The Condition is still Critical
Like a patient which needs medical attention, Thailand is still under deep waters - metaphorically and literally. Sixty percent of Bangkok is still under water. Waters from the northern region are still being drained to the sea.
