MANILA, Philippines – An undetermined number of passengers
sustained injuries after a bus and jeepney collided along
EDSA-Balintawak Tursday morning.
Rodolfo Figueroa, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) personnel, said a bus crashed into a jeepney filled with passengers along the northbound lane of the avenue at around 10 a.m.
Figueroa said he and other bystanders asked available vehicles in the area to rush the injured victims to Manila Central University (MCU) Hospital for treatment.
He said the victims included a female passenger who sustained a serious head injury.
Radio dzMM’s Johnson Manabat said the jeepney (PXL 523) was heavily damaged, with some of the passengers’ valuables still inside it.
The collision snarled the traffic in the area. The bus and the two drivers were sent to the headquarters of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Traffic Sector 1.
